Mapster ist ein gemeinnütziges Online-Projekt, welches Scans (400-600 dpi) von historischen Landkarten und Stadtplänen Polens sowie Mittel- und Osteuropas zur Verfügung stellt. Anfänglich wurden die Kartenmaterialien aus folgenden drei nicht-kommerziellen Quellen gespeist:
- 'Archiv-Karten von Danziger Gebiet und Pommern'
- 'Karten-Archiv von Wojskowy Instytut Geograficzny 1919 - 1947'
- 'Karten-Archiv des westlichen Polens'
Gegenwärtig kommen Scans aber auch aus privaten Sammlungen, öffentlichen Archiven und Bibliotheken und werden mit der Zustimmung der Eigentümer für nicht-kommerzielle Zwecke zur Verfügung gestellt.
